Shahid's 'Arjun Reddy' to release next June

Bollywood remake of South superhit " Arjun Reddy ", featuring Shahid Kapoor in the lead, is set to release on June 21 next year. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who also helmed the original critically-acclaimed Telugu-language blockbuster, will go on floors next month. The announcement was made on the official Twitter handle of T-Series, which is producing the film. "@shahidkapoor starrer #ArjunReddy directed by @imvangasandeep produced by #BhushanKumar, @muradkhetani, Krishan Kumar & @ashwinvarde will hit theatres on 21st June 2019," the tweet read. The original film revolved around a medical student who falls in love with his junior and how their relationship evolves. The film featured Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in lead roles. The movie faced criticism from several quarters for being regressive but was lauded for its honest portrayal of the title character.

TNPSC releases Group 4 exam results; check cut-offs, scores at tnpsc.gov.in

RIL becomes India's most valued firm again; surpasses TCS in market cap

Reliance Industries on Tuesday regained the status of the country's most valued firm in terms of market valuation, surging past information technology (IT) giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in intra-day trade. At 01:02 PM; RIL market capitalisation (m-cap) stood at Rs 7.48 trillion, more than TCS' of Rs 7.40-trillion valuation, as per BSE data. Earlier on April 11, 2018, RIL had m-cap of Rs 5.89 trillion and TCS of Rs 5.77 trillion on closing level basis. Thus far in the month of July, RIL has rallied 21%, while TCS up 4.5% on the BSE. On comparison, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 6%. RIL hit a new high of Rs 1,181, up 2.8%, extending its 4% gain in past two trading days, after the company reported 17.9% year on year (yoy) growth in consolidated net profit at Rs 94.59 billion in June quarter (Q1FY19). OnePlus controlled 40% of Indian premium smartphone mkt in Q2, beat Samsung

Riding on the success of its OnePlus 6 device , Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus controlled 40 per cent of the premium segment in India in the second quarter of 2018, a new report has said. Samsung accounted for 34 per cent share of the premium segment, while Apple's share of the market reduced to 14 per cent - its lowest ever. According to Hong Kong-based Counterpoint Research, the premium smartphone segment (Rs 30,000 and above) grew 19 per cent annually and 10 per cent sequentially during Q2 2018. "The uptick in consumer demand in the premium segment was driven by increasing offers around the new launches as compared to a year ago," said the report, released late on Monday. The top three brands -- Samsung , OnePlus and Apple -- contributed 88 per cent of the overall premium market as compared to 95 per cent a quarter ago. US-based technology giant Apple is working on the iPad Pro 2018 , which is reported to get some of its features from the iPhone X. These include the advanced facial recognition and gesture-controlled user interface. The next-generation iPad Pro models are also reported to have trimmed-down dimensions when compared with the current-generation models, according to a report on the Japanese technology portal Macotakara. The iPad Pro 2018 models are reported to come in 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch screen formats with edge-to-edge screen. Both the models would feature Apple’s advanced facial recognition biometric set-up, which uses an infrared camera, dot projector, flood illuminator, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor and front camera to 3D-map the user's face. Multiple pregnancies might make women's cells age more quickly, a new study suggests. A Northwestern University study, led by Calen Ryan and Christopher Kuzawa of Northwestern and Dan Eisenberg at the University of Washington, helps explain why women with many children tend to show signs of accelerated aging. The findings were reached by looking at two separate markers of cellular aging telomere length and epigenetic age in hundreds of young women with different reproductive histories in the Philippines. Lead author of the study, Ryan said, "Telomere length and epigenetic age are cellular markers that independently predict mortality, and both appeared 'older' in women who had more pregnancies in their reproductive histories." Huawei Nova 3, Nova 3i with GPU Turbo, quad-cameras launched

Huawei , a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, on July 26 launched the Huawei Nova 3 and Nova 3i in India at Rs 34,999 and Rs 20,990, respectively. Both the devices feature the Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology, which the company claims improves graphic performance by up to 60 per cent, and the processor’s by up to 30 per cent. In terms of design, the Nova 3 gets the premium glass build with a Huawei P20 Pro-inspired reflective back, and a metallic chassis. The phone also shares most of its features and hardware from Huawei’s flagship device. It features a notch-based 6.3-inch diagonal fullHD+ LCD screen in 19.5:9 aspect ratio. To enhance travel experience of domestic passengers, three major airports might soon get rid of boarding pass stamping, enabling fliers to go straight to security checkpoints. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has asked Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai airports to carry out a pilot project for “express security check facility” for travellers with just handbags, according to a report in The Times of India The head of airport security for CISF, MA Ganapathy, on July 18 had written to the CEOs of Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore airports (DIAL,MIAL and BIAL respectively) to stop stamping of boarding cards of domestic flyers, the report said. The doing away of stamping would help passengers save time and ease the travelling as during peak hours, the queue for stamping is usually large and passengers lose a lot of time to get clearance. After falling short of Xiaomi’s market share in last two quarters, Samsung regained the lead spot by capturing 29 per cent market share, one per cent more than Xiaomi’s 28 per cent market share in the second quarter of 2018. “ The success of Samsung during the quarter can be attributed to its refreshed J-series; it launched more models than any other brand across multiple price points during the quarter. Twitter removed more than 143,000 apps between April and June which violated its policies, the company has announced, saying it is further investing in building improved tools and processes to stop malicious apps faster. An employee, who is not in employment for a month, may be allowed to avail off 75 per cent of the total fund standing to his credit, Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar said on Monday. Gangwar said in Lok Sabha that the Central Board of Trustees (CBT) of the Employees' Prvident Fund (EPF), in its 222nd meeting on June 26, had considered a proposal for insertion of paragraph 68HH in EPF Scheme 1952. This will enable a member of EPF, who is no longer in employment for a continous period of one month, to avail 75 per cent of the total fund standing to his or her credit, he said during Question Hour.
