Himachal Pradesh election results: BJP leads in 35 seats, Congress in 22

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) surged ahead of the ruling Congress on Monday as officials counted the votes polled in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections.

The BJP is leading in 35 seats while the Congress is ahead in 22 seats in Himachal Pradesh, according to early Election Commission trends.

The CPI(M) is ahead in one seat. Trends are available for 60 seats.

Main rivals BJP and Congress have contested all 68 seats.

The verdict will decide the fate of 337 candidates including Chief Ministerial nominees Virbhadra Singh (Congress) and Prem Kumar Dhumal (BJP). A total of 37,83,580 people voted in the hill state -- a record 75.28 per cent polling.

The Congress and the BJP contested in all the 68 constituencies. Most exit polls have indicated the BJP's return to power with an absolute majority.

The state has alternately elected Congress and BJP governments since 1985. In 2012, the Congress won 36 seats and the BJP 26. Independents won six seats.

Samsung rolls out 'Made in India' privacy app for Galaxy A71, Galaxy A51

  Smartphone maker  Samsung  on Monday said it has rolled out privacy app AltZLife developed at its India R&D centre on select handsets in the country. The app allows users of the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A51  smartphones  to quickly switch to privacy mode from normal mode by double-clicking the power button and also automatically save images and videos in private folders based on the usage pattern. "The AltZLife feature will be available to the existing as well as new users of Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A51 through a software update on August 10, 2020,"  Samsung  said in a statement. Truecaller version 12 with new features for Android users launched

  Swedish caller identification app  Truecaller  on Thursday rolled out its latest version 12 with a new Video Caller ID feature addition, call recording for free users, and a redesigned user interface (UI). A total of five features have been announced as part of the  Truecaller  Version 12 update. " Truecaller  is a vital part of communication for over 22 crore Indians, for both their professional and personal needs.
