RIP Masterji: Bollywood, politicians mourn Saroj Khan's death at 71

Bollywood  woke up to the shock news of their beloved 'masterji' Saroj Khan's death on Friday, with many celebrities remembering the veteran choreographer as a "genius" and an "inspiration" to others. Khan, the name behind some of the most famous songs in  Bollywood  such as "Dhak Dhak" and "Ek Do Teen", died of cardiac arrest early on Friday morning. She was 71. Actor Akshay Kumar termed Khan's demise as a "huge loss" to the industry. "Woke up to the sad news that legendary choreographer #SarojKhan ji is no more. She made dance look easy almost like anybody can dance, a huge loss for the industry. May her soul rest in peace," he tweeted. Actor Amitabh Bachchan to be honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke award

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was on Tuesday named Dadasaheb Phalke winner , Indian cinema's highest honour for an artiste. Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar confirmed the news in a Twitter post. "The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest Congratulations to him. @narendramodi @SrBachchan," Javadekar tweeted. The 76-year-old screen icon, who rose to stardom with his 'Angry Young Man' persona capturing the anger of the young generation in the 1970s with films such as "Zanjeer", "Deewar" and "Sholay", continues to be a force to reckon with in Indian cinema. In a career spanning five decades, Bachchan has given memorable performances film after film and is a four-time National Film Award winner.

Amitabh, Ramya Krishnan reunite after two decades

Actors Amitabh Bachchan and Ramya Krishnan , who had previously worked together in Hindi action comedy "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan", have been paired once again in upcoming Tamil film "Uyarntha Manithan". The film, being directed by Tamilvaanan in Tamil and Hindi, marks Big B's maiden full-length role in the Tamil film world. "Ramya ma'am has been paired with Amitji. Audiences are going to see both of them in really interesting roles. It's really exciting to be bringing together actors with such fine calibre and working with them. 'Thugs of Hindostan' tanks: Biggest day-1 grosser becomes 'biggest shocker'

Business Standard : The combination of Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif hasn't helped Thugs of Hindostan garner box office numbers after the first day. After minting a record Rs 500 million on Day 1, the multistarrer's fortunes have been in a free fall as it collected just above Rs 1.33 billion in the first five days after release. By the time the weekend was over, the movie seemed to have gone out of favour with the audience as it struggled to notch up even a tenth of its Day 1 figures on Monday and Tuesday. 'Brahmastra' to release on Christmas 2019

Business Standard : Brahmastra, the first part of Ayan Mukerji's fantasy trilogy, will now hit big screens on Christmas 2019. Starring legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan , Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, the film was earlier slated to release in August next year. Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is producing the project under his Dharma Productions, took to social media to make the announcement. "PART 1!!!! # BRAHMASTRA #CHRISTMAS2019 @ DharmaMovies written and directed by AYAN MUKERJI," read his tweet. While Ranbir has previously worked with Ayan Mukerji in films such as 'Wake Up Sid' and 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani', Alia and Ayan are first time working together on any film. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, while wishing the star on his birthday which falls today, in a surprise unveiled the first look of Bachchan's character, Gosayi Venkanna, from the upcoming period drama film. Kalyan Jewellers has withdrawn their advertisement series featuring Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, his daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Malayalam actor Manju Warrier after legal action was threatened against them for portraying bank employees in a negative light. In a media statement, Kalyan Jewellers executive director Ramesh Kalyanaraman said, "We sincerely regret the inadvertent hurt caused and withdraw the advertisement from all media with immediate effect." He added that the advertisement has hurt sentiments of some people including members of the esteemed banking community and any such hurtful interpretation being drawn is unintended. "We state that the creative advertisement was a work of fiction and not a reflection of banking employees at large.
