Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma India's leading power couple, says study

The husband-wife pair of cricketer Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma has been ranked as the leading pair, according to a study by Mumbai-based Indian Institute of Human Brands, promoted by adman Sandeep Goyal. The survey looked at popular 'power couples' in the country. Virat and Anushka were followed by actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna. These couples were ranked using a set of 24 brand attributes, Goyal said. These attributes included what these couples represent to consumers and how they are perceived by young people. Some of the other power couples, who were part of the study included actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. Actors Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan were second on the stylist list of couples, followed by Akshay-Twinkle, said Goyal. The film managed to collecting double digits even on a Monday, the fifth day of its release. It had raked in Rs. 20.25 crore on the first day of its release. Gold: Akshay's ninth film to enter Rs. 100 cr club

Akshay Kumar 's 'Gold' has finally crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark on its 13th day to become the actor's ninth film to enter the coveted club. The film, which hit the theatres on Independence Day, has earned a whopping Rs. 100.45 crore. Film critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to make the announcement, writing, "#Gold crosses Rs. 100 cr mark on Day 13... [Week 2] Fri 1.85 cr, Sat 3.10 cr, Sun 4.75 cr, Mon 1.45 cr. Total: Rs. 100.45 cr. India biz... Akshay Kumar's ninth film in Rs. 100 cr Club." In the flick, the 'Padman' star plays the role of Tapan Das, a character which is based on the man who led India to win gold at the 1948 London Olympics. The 'Gold' star ranks number seven on the list with earnings of USD 40.5 million, while Salman, by earning USD 38.5 million, has scored the ninth position. Despite Akshay Kumar starrer 'Gold' surpassing the box office collection of John Abraham's ' Satymeva Jayate ' , both the films are going toe-to-toe. While the big-budget Akshay Kumar starrer has raked in Rs 71.30 Crore on the opening weekend, John Abraham's action flick is going strong with an earning of Rs 56.91. The ' Khiladi ' has become the first male Bollywood actor to score a fan base of 20 million on his Instagram account, inching ahead of his contemporaries. Pressing on the often-repeated phrase on the roads “ Sadak kya tere baap ki hain ” filmstar and road safety brand ambassador Akshay Kumar kick-started his awareness campaign for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Kumar, who is known for his daredevil stunts, said the subject of road safety was close to his heart and therefore he was lending support to the cause as a citizen. “I am promoting this cause as Brand India and not Brand Akshay Kumar .” The event was organized by the ministry for spreading awareness about road safety for which Kumar was roped in for promotion campaign in February this year. Vinod Khanna , the yesteryears Bollywood superstar, died at the age of 70 on Thursday. He was battling cancer. He worked in more than 100 films. He was an active politician, and a sitting Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur, Punjab. Vinod Khanna was born on 6 October, 1946. He is survived by his wife Kavita Khanna, sons Rahul, Akshaye and Sakshi, and daughter Shraddha Khanna. Before marrying Kavita, Vinod Khanna was married to Getanjali but they later got divorced. His polupar movies include Mere Apne, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Gaddaar (1973 film), Jail Yatra, Imitihaan, Inkaar, Kuchhe Dhaage, Amar Akbar Anthony, Rajput, Qurbani, Kudrat, Dayavan, Kaarnama,Suryaa: An Awakening and Jurm. Vinod Khanna received the Filmfare award in the best supporting actor category for Haath Ki Safaai, and in 1999 he received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, and again in 2007 he won a lifetime achievement award at the  Zee Cine Awards .
