Video meeting app Zoom ties up with Oracle Cloud to cater to growing demand

Cloud major  Oracle  on Tuesday announced that the video meet app  Zoom  is turning to  Oracle  Cloud Infrastructure to support its growth and evolving business needs. Zoom  has grown exponentially in recent times due to Covid-19 pandemic. The company said it now connects around 300 million-plus user on daily basis. “We recently experienced the most significant growth our business has ever seen, requiring massive increases in our service capacity. We explored multiple platforms, and  Oracle  Cloud Infrastructure was instrumental in helping us quickly scale our capacity and meet the needs of our new users,”  Zoom  CEO Eric S. Vulnerability in Zoom app let hackers steal your Windows password: Report

Slammed for the lack of users privacy and security by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and cybersecurity experts, video meeting app  Zoom  is also prone to hacking, a new report has claimed, saying an unpatched bug can let  hackers  steal users Windows password. The ' Zoom  client for Windows' is vulnerable to the 'UNC path injection' vulnerability that could let remote attackers steal login credentials for victims' Windows systems, reports TheHacckeNews. The latest finding by cybersecurity expert @_g0dmode, has also been "confirmed by researcher Matthew Hickey and Mohamed A. Baset,' the report said late Wednesday. The attack involves the "SMBRelay technique" wherein Windows automatically exposes a user's login username and NTLM password hashes to a remote server, when attempting to connect and download a file hosted on it. A battle between national security and privacy is brewing. Governments and secret services are asking encrypted messaging services such as  WhatsApp  to allow them access to users’ data. Most recently, in the wake of the March attack at Westminster, Amber Rudd, the UK home secretary, said it was unacceptable that the government couldn’t read the encrypted messages of suspected terrorists. The main argument behind this request is that access to messages will allow authorities to thwart future terror attacks.
