Virat is one of leading players of all time, but never believed in comparisons: Tendulkar

Image
Business Standard : Virat Kohli sauntering towards Sachin Tendulkar 's records that once looked staggering and seemingly unsurpassable has amazed the icon, who Thursday called the Indian captain one of the greatest but said he "never believed" in comparisons. Recently Kohli surpassed Tendulkar to become the fastest player to score 10,000 One Day International runs. He is also inching towards Tendulkar's record for highest number of ODI hundreds (49), having notched his 38th ton in Pune in the third game against West Indies. "Coming to Virat 's development as a player, I think he has developed immensely. And I always saw that spark in him. I always felt that he is going to be one of the leading players in the world, not just of this generation, but one of the leading players of all time," Tendulkar told reporters here. "And then it is again about opinions. But if one has to go into comparisons, then I don't want to get into that. Th...

Prabhudheva has done a sensational job for Katrina: 'Thugs...' director

Image
Business Standard : "Thugs of Hindostan" director Vijay Krishna Acharya says choreographer-filmmaker-actor Prabhudheva has done a sensational job in creating dance steps for the song "Suraiyya" picturised on actress Katrina Kaif and actor Aamir Khan. Prabhudheva has choreographed "Suraiyya" in a way which combines old Indian dance forms with intricate contemporary moves. The song will see Aamir, dressed as a British captain, wooing Katrina in front of some British officers. The director said in a statement: "'Suraiyya' is a song that gives a sneak peek into the flirtatious relationship between (the characters) Firangi (Aamir) and Suraiyya ( Katrina ). While she is the most famous performer of India, Firangi is an equally cunning man of the country whom Suraiyya doesn't trust at all." The song has been composed by Ajay-Atul while Amitabh Bhattacharya has penned its lyrics. Shreya Ghoshal and Vishal Dadlani have sung the so...

Afghanistan skittled out for 109, India enforce follow-on at tea on Day 2

Image
India predictably exposed the serious limitations in Afghanistan's batting with the visitors being skittled out for a paltry 109 in 27.5 overs at tea on the second day as the historic one-off Test match looked poised for an early finish. With a huge lead of 365 runs, Indian captain Ajinkya Rahane had no hesitation in enforcing follow-on. This was after Hardik Pandya's 71 ensured an impressive first innings total of 474 for the home team. Batting was always going to be Afghanistan 's Achilles heel' as the inexperienced line-up simply didn't have the technique or the temperament to face quality swing and seam bowling from Ishant Sharma (2/28 in 5 overs) and Umesh Yadav (1/18 in 6 overs). Every batsman seemed to be on a limited overs mode without any respect for an aspect called patience which is an integral component of Test cricket. The result was an entire innings was over within one session with only Mohamed Nabi (24) crossing the 20-run mark. O...

IPL-2018: RCB eager to get act together against Punjab (Preview)

Image
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will look to get their act together after an opening game defeat, as they take on Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League (IPL) tie at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Friday. RCB, led by star India captain Virat Kohli, lost to Kolkata Knight Riders after Sunil Narine snatched victory with a 17-ball fifty and Nitish Rana removed AB de Villiers and Kohli in the same over and then scored a vital 35. RCB will now want their star batsmen Brendon McCullum and AB de Villiers, who blasted a 27-ball 43 and a 23-ball 44, respectively, in the first game. McCullum reached a milestone in completing 9,000 T20 runs in the last match and that should boost his confidence. Kohli did not look his imperious best in the previous game and he would want to come out all guns blazing against Punjab. The likes Quinton de Koc k, Sarfaraz Khan and Chris Woakes did not fire against KKR and would want to improve if RCB want their batting to fire. Ko...
