Tinder users appropriating dating app for political campaigning: Study

Although Tinder is a platform facilitating casual dating, some of the app's nearly 50 million users around the world are employing it for multilevel marketing, political campaigning, and promoting local gigs, a new study says. The study, published in the journal The Information Society, found that Tinder's off-label use -- a term borrowed from pharmacology describing when people use a product for something other than what the package says -- appropriates its infrastructure, and sociocultural meanings. After creating an immense buzz with the trailer of the forthcoming movie ' Malang ', the makers of the film on Thursday dropped the much-anticipated title track of the romantic-action thriller. The lead actor of the flick, Aditya Roy Kapur, hopped on to Instagram to share the news of the title track release among his followers and posted a poster with a caption that read, "Get ready to fall in love and unleash the madness within you with #MalangTitleTrack Song out now: Link in bio! #Malang." Business Standard : Your personal data may be up for sale on Dark Web for as low as Rs 3,500 that includes stolen social media accounts, banking details and credit card information from sites like Uber as well as gaming and porn websites, a new research has warned. According to cyber security firm Kaspersky Lab that investigated Dark We b markets to find out how much personal data is worth, cyber criminals can sell someone's complete digital life for less than $50 (nearly Rs 3,500). "This can include data from stolen social media accounts , banking details , remote access to servers or desktops, and even data from popular services like Uber, Netflix, and Spotify, as well as gaming websites, dating apps, and porn websites which might store credit card information."
