Disney rereleased the film with new footage in late June for a final push as Endgame closed in on the record. It has now taken in an estimated $2.790.2 billion in theaters worldwide as of Sunday, the company said, ahead of the $2,789.7 billion accumulated by Avatar a decade ago. The divisive final season of " Game of Thrones " smashed the record for most Primetime Emmy nominations by a drama series in a single year, earning a whopping 32 nods Tuesday. HBO's fantasy epic enraged fans with its bumpy conclusion but still trounced the competition to strengthen its iron grip on the small-screen equivalent of the Oscars. "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" -- Amazon's story of a 1950s housewife-turned-stand up comic -- was a distant second on 20 nominations. "Thrones" is the most decorated fictional show in the awards' seven-decade history, and now has 161 nominations overall -- including 47 wins. 'India's Most Wanted' a game-changer in cinema on terrorism (Review)

Image
Film:  India's Most Wanted ; Starring: Arjun Kapoor, Rajesh Sharma; Writer and Director Rajkumar Gupta; Rating: ****(4 stars) In a milieu of bustling violence, terrorism has been reduced to a formula in our cinema. A pretext to show larger-than-life villains with heroes to match. But what about those real terrorists and those unsung heroes who have apprehended dreaded terrorists not for fame recognition or, God forbid, money. But simply because to them, that seems the right thing to do. India's Most Wanted is that rare film on counter-terrorism which seems to show no inclination to overplay its cards, Rajkumar Gupta's target here is to not show his hero indulging in scene-stealing heroics (the kind Akshay Kumar would be seen doing), but to put the protagonist, a docile humble unostentatious man Prabhat who never smiles because...well, what is there to smile about? Have you seen the number of bomb blasts that have occurred in the last two decades? Read Complete Arti...

HBO reveals reason behind 'coffee cup' goof up in latest GoT episode

Image
In a funny reaction to the coffee cup goof up on the fourth episode of the final season of its fantasy series " Game of Thrones ", HBO said Daenerys Targaryen had ordered herbal tea, but was delivered a latte by mistake. "GoT" followers went crazy on the social media after watching "The Last of the Starks" after they spotted a misplaced takeaway cup placed on Daenerys' table in a scene when the heroes gather to celebrate their victory at the Battle of Winterfell. "The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea," HBO stated in a press release issued to Variety. "Game of Thrones" art director Hauke Richter said it is not unusual for random items to end up misplaced on set, go unnoticed and appear in the final cuts. "Things can get forgotten on set. (The coffee cup error has been) so blown out of proportion (because) it has not happened with 'Thrones' so far," Richt...

The Supreme Court Friday refused to interfere with the Election Commission's order banning release of the biopic on PM Narendra Modi until May 19. A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said it was not inclined to entertain the application filed by producers of biopic challenging the EC's order. "What survives in this now?" the bench, also comprising Justices Deepak Gupta and Sanjiv Khanna, said. The counsel, appearing for producers, told the bench that the EC's order is contrary to the clearance given to the movie by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). "The issue is whether the movie can be exhibited at this time. The Election Commission has taken a decision. We are not inclined to entertain this," the bench said. The poll panel told the court that movie should be released only after the Lok Sabha elections got over. Elections2019

Notebook is Salman Khan's purest ode to love (Review)

Image
Film: Notebook ; Starring: Pranutan Behl, Zaheer Iqbal; Director: Nitin Kakkar; Rating: ****(4 stars) It is significant that Salman Khan is a producer on the tenderest most lyrical love story of his career. Salman has repeatedly expressed his version to physical love on screen, PDA at its most public if you please. He doesn't ever kiss his heroines. Neither does his new discovery Zaheer Iqbal, strapping young athletic debutant who demonstrates unexpected spurts of compassion at pertinent points in the plot. Zaheer is a lambi race ka ghoda. ThisA isA a romance where the lead pair doesn't meet. They touch each other's lives through words.  Not poetry, mind you. This is not an occasion to do a Pakeezaah on us. Director Nitin Kakkar whose last film "Mitron" is a neglected gem, creates a stirring alchemy in the romance. The mood is as somber as the Valley when the guns are silent. The narrative moves at its volition heedless of how rapidly the world moves...

Image
Riding high on the success of "Uri: The Surgical Strike", actor Vicky Kaushal says he has never cared about following the norms in the film world -- whether it is for the protagonist's part, a secondary part or debuting with a film like "Masaan". The actor, whose upcoming projects include Karan Johar's grand ensemble film "Takht", believes in setting his journey as an example for others and not really to follow others' journey. Asked what makes him a game changer, Vicky told IANS via email: "I guess following my gut and not really going by the rules of the book. "As an actor, I have not really been stuck up with the kind of work that people around me are doing.
