Petrol rates up by 21 paise, now costs Rs 91.34 in Mumbai, Rs 84 in Delhi

After remaining constant for a day, petrol and diesel prices continued their upward march on Thursday. The latest hike takes fuel prices to a new unprecedented level. Petrol prices are up by around 15 paise across major cities, with the fuel now being sold at Rs 91.20 per litre in Mumbai. In Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai, petrol is priced at Rs 84, Rs 85.80 and Rs 87.33 per litre respectively. Diesel prices are up by around 21 paise in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. The key transportation fuel is being retailed at Rs 75.45, Rs 80.10, Rs 77.30 and Rs 79.79 per litre respectively. Fuel prices in India largely depend on international oil prices. No respite as fuel prices rise again, petrol crosses Rs 90-mark in Mumbai

BS : In no respite to the citizens, fuel prices in the country touched new heights on Monday morning, especially in Mumbai, as the petrol price in the metropolitan city crossed Rs 90-run mark. In Mumbai, the petrol price has touched Rs 90.08 per litre , while diesel is being retailed at Rs 78.58 per litre. Meanwhile, the prices of petrol and diesel in New Delhi are Rs.82.72 per litre and Rs.74.02 per litre respectively. Keeping the people's suffering in mind, the West Bengal government on September 11 reduced the excise on petrol and diesel by Re 1 per litre each last week. Similarly, the Karnataka government had also announced that the petrol and diesel prices across the state would be cheaper by Rs 2 per litre each, following the reduction in cess on these fuels. Petrol, diesel prices up by around 50 paise: Check rates in Delhi, Mumbai

Petrol and diesel prices reached a new unprecedented level on Friday after oil marketing companies announced a sharp hike on Friday. In Delhi, petrol rose 48 paise to be sold at Rs 79.99 per litre. With a similar hike, petrol in Mumbai is priced at Rs 87.39 per litre. Diesel prices saw an even bigger hike on Friday. While in Delhi, prices rose by 52 paise, in Mumbai, the rates went up by 55 paise. The fuel is retailing at Rs 72.07 and Rs 76.51 per litre in Delhi and Mumbai respectively. Except for a halt on Wednesday, petrol and diesel rates have gone up every day since 26 August. Fuel prices, for the tenth consecutive day, was marginally lowered on Friday. As per prices announced by largest retailer Indian Oil Corp (IOC), petrol prices fell around 21 paise in the four metro cities, while diesel prices were down by around 15 paise. In Delhi, petrol per litre on Friday cost Rs 77.42, down from 77.63 on Thursday. Similarly, in Mumbai and Kolkata, petrol prices were at Rs 85.24 and Rs 80.07 a litre respectively. In Chennai, petrol fell by 22 paise to Rs 80.37 per litre. Diesel prices were down by 15 paise in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. In Chennai, its price was down by 16 paise. On Thursday, petrol prices were reduced by 9 paise, while diesel prices were cut by 7 paise in Delhi. Even after ten consecutive price cuts, fuel prices continue to remain at high levels following the resumption of daily price changes after a 20-day suspension of the system last month owing to the Karnataka elections.
