Wipro, Finland varsity sign pact to develop 5G, 6G wireless technologies

Digital tech major Wipro on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Oulu in Finland to collaborate in the areas of wireless communications in 5G/6G at GHz, THz and lightwave frequencies under the university's 6G flagship programme. The University of Oulu is an international science university, which focuses on innovation for the future, well-being, and knowledge through research and education. "The new research partnership between Wipro and University of Oulu regarding 5G and 6G will boost innovation and is an excellent start for the mutually beneficial cooperation between Finland and Wipro," said Timo Harakka, Minister of Employment at Finland's Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. JustDial data leak exposed personal details of 100 million users: IT expert

Justdial, a company that provides local search for different services in India over voice calls and internet, suffered a data breach last week that compromised the personal details of 100 million users, according to independent cyber-security researcher Rajshekhar Rajaharia. An Economic Times report on Thursday quoted Rajaharia as saying that the company has not been able to fix the breach. He told ET that the breach did not affect a newer, revamped version of the website. In a Facebook post, the cybersecurity expert claimed that the attack put at risk data of users who called JustDial's customer care number '88888 88888'. Inc42 quoted a senior JustDial executive on Monday as saying that the company is investigating the alledged loopholes in its database and that the company's systems are foolproof. Why is Infosys' buyback taking time?

Given the performance of stocks over the past few months and the mounting cash pile in their books, most information technology companies - Infosys , TCS, Wipro and HCL Technologies - have announced a buyback to reward shareholders over the past few months. TCS board, for instance, approved and completed its proposal to buy back up to 56.14 million equity shares of the company for an aggregate amount not exceeding Rs 16,000 crore at Rs 2,850 per equity share. Besides TCS, HCL Technologies, too, has completed the buyback process. On a year-to-date basis, Infosys has lost over 3% at the bourses as compared with around 20% rally in the Nifty50 index, ACE Equity data show.
