Samsung Galaxy J8 review: Premium midrange device with good battery, camera

Technology: Samsung, the South Korean electronics giant, has been facing tough competition in Indian smartphone market from its Chinese counterparts such as Oppo, Vivo, Huawei and Xiaomi. The neck-and-neck competition, especially the challenge from Xiaomi, has led the company to refresh its budget and midrange line-up with features such as infinity display (18.5:9 aspect ratio screen) and dual rear cameras that were earlier limited to its premium smartphones. The latest in its line-up is the Galaxy J8 smartphone, a modern day smartphone with a great build, big super AMOLED screen, dual rear cameras and powerful battery.

The Galaxy J8 seems to be a heavy contender in midrange smartphone segment, at least in terms of specifications and features. However, does it perform equally well in real life scenarios? Let’s find out:

Samsung Galaxy J8Design and build quality

The Samsung Galaxy J8 comes with a decent design and build quality. The phone has a polycarbonate matte-finish back and metallic chassis, which look good and are comfortable to hold. The phone’s build quality is top-notch. It makes no squeaking sounds and everything fits in place just right.

Twitter may soon allow users to add videos, pictures in same tweet: Report

  In a bid to make the platform more user-friendly, micro-blogging site  Twitter  is reportedly working on new features, including mixed-media tweets and more. According to 9To5Google, this week,  Twitter  for Android has revealed support for adding both pictures and videos to the same tweet, hints at tweet "awards" and more. The report mentioned that  Twitter  seems to finally be making it possible to tweet both a picture and a video in the same tweet. As it stands today, tweets with media can include a gallery of up to four photos or a single video, with no mix of the two. Even with this new ability to mix media, tweets can still only house up to four pieces of media, the report said. The other major new addition uncovered was "awards" for tweets. Facebook apologises for outage, says services 'back up and running'

  Facebook  has apologised for an outage that lasted almost ten hours, blaming a configuration change to routers for causing its apps to crashing. “Our engineering teams have learned that configuration changes on the backbone routers that coordinate network traffic between our data centers caused issues that interrupted this communication. This disruption to network traffic had a cascading effect on the way our data centers communicate, bringing our services to a halt,” said Santosh Janardhan, Vice President Infrastructure at Facebook, in a blog post. All of Facebook’s services, including  WhatsApp  and Instagram, were down for users globally beginning Monday night. The outage affected Facebook’s internal systems as well and slowed down efforts to bring up systems back again.
